NACE INTERNATIONAL GATEWAY INDIA SECTION
NACE International Gateway India Section (NIGIS) established in 1992 to promotes corrosion awareness to achieve aims and objectives of NACE International being affiliated to East Asia Pacific region. Since its inception, NIGIS- made significant contributions through international and national conferences, conventions, technical courses, workshops and technical programmes.
NIGIS has organised fourteen annual conferences, thirty one seminars / workshops & sixty three corrosion awareness programmes on Cathodic Protection, Paint & Coating Inspection, Pipeline Corrosion, Fundamental of Corrosion, Industrial Cooling Water Treatment Management, Corrosion Control in Refining Process etc. These programmes are tailored to meet the need of the professionals in Indian industries and are regularly updated to include new inputs of technologies an their applications with a mission to minimize corrosion losses. These programmes are parts of Career Development activities of India Section to train professionals and equip them with state of the art knowledge in corrosion prevention and protection. Response to these programmes establishes the need of the industries for these trainings.
NIGIS also organises certification courses Coating Inspector Program of NACE International. NACE CIP training programs are the best and most comprehensive training programs in the industrial coating business. CIP has become the most widely recognized coating inspector certification program in the world which is taught by respected leaders in the protective coatings industry.
NIGIS observes "Corrosion Awareness Day" every year at its annual convention and presents awards to scientists, engineers and professionals in recognition of their contributions to corrosion sciences. Awards for best practicing corrosion engineer, scientist, laboratories, M. Tech. and Ph D. thesis, meritorious contribution and a life time achievement award are given. Some awards are sponsored by leading industries of the country.
The activities of NIGIS provide a unique platform for engineers and professionals to deliberate on corrosion and benefit from shared experiences and knowledge. In the last decade, Activities of NIGIS received tremendous response from Indian and foreign industries and exhibitors could demonstrate products and processes of corrosion control. India Section now owns an office at Mumbai.
In addition India Section is regularly publishing a newsletter, which is distributed not only to all the members, but also to various corrosion institutes, educational institutions, industrial houses & important libraries in the country. NIGIS continues to remain committed to enhance quality and services of its activities about corrosion protection and control for propagating greater awareness in India.
